Allergy Care - Lactose Intolerance

Lactose is a sugar found in milk and those people suffering from lactose intolerance are not able to digest and break this sugar down. The cells that line the small intestine produce an enzyme called lactase and people who are lactose intolerant have a shortage of this enzyme.

The severity of lactose intolerance varies from person to person and so do the symptoms. Some of the symptoms are feeling sick, bloated or gas in the stomach, wind, stomach cramps and pains, and diarrhea.

There is no cure for lactose intolerance and the only way to avoid the symptoms is to avoid eating any products with lactose in.
